The "Lost" Kirby Game That Never Was
Kirby: Cosmic Chaos is one of the most ambitious fan projects from the late 2000s, legendary for attempting to recreate the gameplay style of the cancelled "Kirby GCN" (GameCube) title. Unlike traditional 2D Kirby games, Cosmic Chaos featured a distinct 2.5D art style reminiscent of Kirby 64, but with modern RPG mechanics.
Key Features:
- RPG Progression: Uniquely, Kirby could level up his Copy Abilities. The more you used an ability like Sword or Cutter, the stronger it became, unlocking moves similar to Kirby Super Star.
- 3D Hub Worlds: Instead of a simple world map, players explored fully 3D towns to shop, talk to NPCs, play minigames, and manage their team.
- Helper Apartments: An expanded version of the Helper system where you could create, customize, and store helpers to bring on missions.
- The Cosmos Rider: The story revolved around collecting pieces of a legendary Warp Star called the "Cosmos Rider" to defeat alien invaders.
