Donkey Kong Bananza 3.0: The ‘Funky Mode’ Everyone Wanted

It’s time to get funky! The massive 3.0 update for Donkey Kong Bananza has officially dropped, and it’s bringing more than just a fresh coat of paint to our favorite primate platformer.

Funky Kong Joins the Fray

Headlining the patch is the brand new “Funky Surf’s Up” mode. This is a dedicated time-attack surfing challenge that pays homage to the classic mechanics of the SNES Donkey Kong Country era, but rebuilt with stunning modern physics. Funky Kong is also now fully playable in all main stages, bringing his signature double-jump and hover-board ability to help newcomers cruise through the tougher sections of the game.

The ‘Lost Island’ Expansion

The update also includes the ‘Lost Island’ expansion, adding 6 brand new levels that feature gravity-defying mechanics and rhythm-based platforming. For those playing on the Nintendo Switch 2, this update introduces 4K texture support and a special ‘HDR Tropical’ mode that makes the jungle colors pop like never before.
