Wii Play: Motion Review

"A sequel utilizing Wii MotionPlus with mixed results."

By Anthony Micallef Published on 12/17/2025

The sequel to Wii Play, bundled with a special black Wii Remote Plus, attempts to do for the MotionPlus what the original did for the standard remote. The results are mixed, with significantly higher highs but more inconsistent quality.

Hidden Gems

Spooky Search is the standout title here. It uses the Wii Remote's speaker to guide you to off-screen ghosts that you have to physically 'grab' and drag back to the TV. It is immersive and genuinely funny.

Stone Skipping is mesmerizingly satisfying, and Teeter Targets offers a decent physics challenge. However, other games like the wind-runner or the balancing act feel frustrating and lack the polish of Wuhu Island's sports.

Final Thoughts

Like its predecessor, it's best viewed as a tech demo collection. It doesn't have a killer app like 'Tanks!', but Spooky Search alone is worth experiencing for its clever use of hardware.
