About the Game

The First Native PC Port of Super Smash Bros.

BattleShip is a fan-made native PC port of the original Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64. Built on top of the VetriTheRetri decompilation project, it runs the game natively on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck without emulation.

What Makes It Different From Emulation

Unlike playing through an emulator, BattleShip compiles the game’s original code to run directly on your hardware. The result is a leaner, faster experience with better input latency and no emulator overhead. It requires you to provide your own legally-sourced NTSC-U v1.0 Super Smash Bros. ROM to build from.

Active Development

The project is actively improving. Version v0.4-beta added Linux compatibility fixes, audio behavior improvements, rendering fixes, and stability patches. Steam Deck support is an ongoing focus.

Key Features

  • Native PC port, not emulation
  • Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck support
  • Built on the VetriTheRetri SSB64 decompilation
