Mario Kart GD is a fascinating fan project built using GDevelop—an engine primarily designed for 2D games. The developer, Mtgames, has managed to push the engine to create a fully functional 3D kart racer. The project is known for its chaotic energy, aggressive humor (the developer openly roasts feature requests in the FAQ), and an eclectic roster that ignores traditional rules.

Key Features

• Semi-Crossover Roster: While it focuses on Mario characters, the roster makes bizarre exceptions based entirely on the developer’s whims. Notably, Rouge the Bat from Sonic the Hedgehog is a playable racer, while Sonic himself is deliberately excluded.
• Unique Arsenal: Alongside standard items like Red Shells and Bananas, the game introduces the White Block (a safer projectile that breaks on walls), the Magic Whistle (summons a tornado), and the devastating Bowser Shell (huge hitbox, bounces 15 times).
• Gamepad Mandatory: The game enforces a strict “No Keyboard” policy for driving. Players are required to use a controller, with the developer humorously stating, “Nobody should have to play any game with a keyboard that is not first-person.”
