The Ultimate Retro Mashup
Super Mario Bros. Crossover is a legendary Flash game that asked the simple question: “What if other Nintendo heroes could play through Super Mario Bros.?” Released in 2010, `v3.0` became the definitive version, allowing players to stomp Goombas as Link, Samus, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, and Bill Rizer (Contra), each retaining their original controls and physics.
Key Features
- True-to-Game Gameplay: Link can’t jump high but uses his sword and boomerang. Samus can roll into a morph ball and lay bombs. Bill Rizer can shoot in 8 directions. The game faithfully recreates the physics of each character’s home game.
- Skin System: Players can switch graphics to match different eras. Play as 8-bit NES Link, 16-bit SNES Link, or even Game Boy styles, with the music changing to match the era.
- Special Levels: Includes the entire Super Mario Bros. campaign, plus the “Special World” from Super Mario Bros. Special (a rare PC-88 release).
