GoldenEye 007 on N64 remains one of the most significant multiplayer games of the 1990s, and the community mod scene has kept it alive well beyond what Nintendo and Rare produced. The GoldenEye Setup Editor is the primary tool used to build custom levels, modify enemy behaviour, add new objectives, and rework original content.
Custom map packs range from recreations of locations from other games and movies to entirely original environments. Several large community campaigns function as unofficial level packs for the single-player game, adding new missions with custom objectives and enemy configurations.
Running custom content requires a flashcart like the Everdrive 64, or any N64 emulator. The GoldenEye Vault website maintains a searchable archive of community content going back over 20 years.
