NewerSMBW is the gold standard for New Super Mario Bros. Wii modding. Created by the Newer Team over several years, it replaces every level in the game with 128 completely original stages spread across 9 themed worlds, including two secret worlds. The project is so polished that it is often described as an unofficial sequel rather than a ROM hack.
New tilesets, original music arrangements, custom enemy placements, and redesigned boss encounters give the mod a distinct identity separate from the base game. World themes include a lava world, a cloud world, a haunted desert, and a snow-covered mountain region. The difficulty curve is tuned to match Nintendo progression, making it accessible to anyone who enjoyed the original.
Installation requires Riivolution on a Wii or Dolphin on PC. The Newer Team also released NewerSMBW Summer and several world packs as standalone downloads.
