Super Mario 64: Last Impact, created by Kaze Emanuar, stands as one of the most technically impressive ROM hacks ever produced for Nintendo 64. The hack replaces all 15 of the original course worlds with 12 entirely custom levels and adds original boss fights, new power-ups, and extended movement mechanics that the base game never had.
New abilities include a triple jump spin, a dive mechanic, and a rolling attack, all woven into the level design. Boss encounters are fully custom and inspired by 3D platformers beyond the Mario series, including multi-phase fights and arena-specific mechanics. The worlds range in theme from a tropical harbour to a mechanical factory and a space station.
Kaze Emanuar is also responsible for dozens of other notable SM64 hacks and has pushed the technical limits of the N64 further than almost anyone else in the community. Last Impact remains his flagship release.
