Dusk Brings Twilight Princess to PC, Steam Deck, iOS, and Android With Uncapped Framerate Support

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess just got a major new way to play. Dusk, a decompilation-based port from the Twilit Realm team, is now available and targets PC plus mobile devices, including Steam Deck, Android, and iOS.

The quick pitch is simple: this is a modernized way to run the original game with cleaner visuals, better performance options, and platform flexibility, while still requiring your own original game dump to play.

What Dusk Is

Dusk is a reverse-engineered reimplementation project built on years of decompilation work. The team describes it as a way to preserve accuracy to the original game while adding optional enhancements and customization tools for modern hardware.

It is important to note that Dusk does not ship with Nintendo’s original game assets. You must provide a supported dump from your own copy of the game at runtime.

What Is New in Dusk

From the first public release and community showcases, the headline features include enhanced resolution support, uncapped framerates, gyro aim support, quality-of-life options, and built-in achievements.

Why You Need Your Own Dump

This point is directly addressed in the official FAQ. Dusk reimplements engine and gameplay code, but it does not include copyrighted content like maps, textures, models, music, or sound effects. Because of that, players need to provide those files from their own copy of the original game.

Right now, supported dumps are from the North American and European GameCube releases. Support for additional regions and Wii versions is listed as in progress.

Save Transfer and Platform Support

The FAQ also provides save migration info for players coming from Dolphin, including path locations on Windows, macOS, and Linux. In short, you can copy the GCI save file from Dolphin into Dusk’s save folder and continue your run with minimal friction.

Officially supported platforms currently include Windows (x86-64), macOS (Intel and Apple silicon), Linux (x86-64 and ARM64), iOS, and Android.

How Uncapped Framerate Works

Dusk’s developers explain that the game logic still updates at 30 ticks per second, similar to the original behavior, while extra visual frames are rendered between ticks using interpolation. The goal is smoother output without changing core game timing in ways that could break expected behavior.

For players who care about responsiveness and image quality on modern displays, this is one of the most meaningful upgrades in the release.

Bottom Line

Dusk looks like one of the most significant Twilight Princess fan projects to date, not just because it runs on PC, but because it lands with mobile support, modern rendering improvements, and strong quality-of-life features from day one.

If you already own the game and have a compatible dump, this is worth keeping on your radar immediately.
