Nintendo Direct June 9 2026: Every Single Announcement, Ranked

The June 9 Nintendo Direct ran for about 50 minutes and was followed by 95 minutes of Nintendo Treehouse: Live. Here is every single announcement from the show, ranked from most to least exciting.

Honestly, this was a pretty good Direct. Not top-tier on the level of E3 2021, but better than a lot of what we have seen in recent years. The first-party announcements are genuinely exciting, especially Xenoblade Genesis. The Zelda: Ocarina of Time reveal was exciting just by existing, but I was hoping to see a bit more of the actual game rather than a brief teaser. A few too many third-party ports in the middle stretch, but the highs carry it.

1. Xenoblade Genesis

The standout first-party announcement of the show. Xenoblade Genesis is a brand new Nintendo RPG built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2. A new mainline Xenoblade game, not a port, not a Switch 2 Edition, but an entirely new entry exclusive to the platform. Xenoblade Chronicles has been one of Nintendo’s most consistently praised RPG franchises, and a new chapter arriving on Switch 2 is exactly what the platform needed in its lineup.

2. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Nintendo is bringing back Wii Sports Resort for Switch 2, and it means it. Twelve sports, improved motion controls, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, launching October 22, 2026. Wii Sports Resort is one of the most beloved casual gaming experiences ever made, and Switch 2 is exactly the right hardware to revive it. This is going to sell units.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Nintendo announced that Ocarina of Time will be reborn on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. That word does a lot of heavy lifting, suggesting something beyond a simple port. The reveal was brief, and honestly I was hoping to see a bit more of what the game actually looks like now. Whether this is a full visual overhaul or something more modest, the announcement itself is huge. Ocarina of Time has not been playable on a current Nintendo platform since the 3DS eShop closed in 2024.

4. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Guide your hero through the Dagdan Empire in the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series. A brand new Fire Emblem game exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 is a major first-party announcement, and Fortune’s Weave has a release date: September 17, 2026. The Dagdan Empire setting sounds like a fresh direction for the series.

5. Pikuniku 2 (My Personal Favorite)

Devolver Digital announced Pikuniku 2 for PC and Nintendo Switch 2, arriving in 2027. The sequel takes the franchise into 3D for the first time. What makes this special is the tease: a viral dancing 3D animation of Piku spread as a meme for months before the reveal, and the whole thing was an official Devolver teaser. They later posted a video telling fans that the next game to get a game is you. Very Devolver. Loved it.

6. The Duskbloods Network Test

The Duskbloods, FromSoftware’s Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, is getting a closed network test. This means players will finally get hands-on time with one of the platform’s most intriguing exclusives, moving it from concept to something you can actually play and evaluate.

7. Splatoon Raiders + Dedicated Direct Coming

Splatoon Raiders got a release date reveal: July 23, 2026. A dedicated Splatoon Raiders Direct is also coming, which means Nintendo is treating this as a major release that needs its own full presentation. Nintendo Treehouse: Live added 22 more minutes of hands-on gameplay on top of this Direct trailer.

8. Donkey Kong Bananza DLC: Super Mario Bros. Collaboration

Donkey Kong Bananza is getting paid DLC called DK Island and Emerald Rush, plus a limited-time Super Mario Bros. collaboration is breaking through into the game. DK Bananza was one of Switch 2’s strongest launch titles and this keeps it in the conversation heading into summer.

9. Kingdom Hearts IV Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 Day One

Square Enix confirmed Kingdom Hearts IV will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 day and date alongside PS5 and Xbox Series. For a series historically treated as PlayStation-first, this is a genuine win for Switch 2 owners. No release date yet, but day-one parity is confirmed.

10. Deltarune Chapter 5 (Free, June 24)

The latest chapter of Deltarune is about to sprout, and it is coming June 24 as a free update. Toby Fox’s Deltarune has one of the most dedicated followings in indie gaming, and every new chapter is a major event. If you have not played Chapters 1 and 2, they are free on Nintendo Switch and worth playing before this arrives.

11. Final Fantasy Resonance

A new Final Fantasy title in the HD-2D style, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 22, 2026. Square Enix’s HD-2D format has worked beautifully on Dragon Quest III and Octopath Traveler, and applying it to the Final Fantasy name is a significant announcement. This was one of the stronger third-party reveals of the show.

12. Rhythm Heaven Groove (Spotlight)

Rhythm Heaven Groove received a full spotlight during the Direct, revealing a release date of July 2, 2026, at $39.99. The first new Rhythm Heaven in over a decade. The game was originally announced at the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, and this show gave it its release date alongside 25 minutes of hands-on Treehouse footage.

13. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2026. The definitive version of Capcom’s open-world action RPG includes the base game and all additional content. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a great game that will find a natural audience on portable hardware.

14. Muramasa: Revenant Blades

Vanillaware’s legendary action RPG returns. Muramasa: Revenant Blades comes to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in early 2027, bringing the original’s beautiful hand-drawn art and fluid swordplay to modern hardware. This one has been very wanted for a long time.

15. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Onimusha: Way of the Sword comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 25, 2026. Capcom’s samurai action series returns after years away, and the trailer looked genuinely impressive. For fans who have been waiting for this one, it is finally close.

16. Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Sony’s action RPG was previously a PS5 exclusive, and its arrival on Switch 2 is a notable moment for the platform’s third-party lineup. Details on the release date and version specifics are still coming.

17. Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition

Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The complete version of one of Capcom’s best action games, with all content included. DMC5 holds up extremely well and the portable version should be excellent.

18. Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Editions

All three Xenoblade Chronicles games are getting Nintendo Switch 2 Editions with enhanced performance and added content. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and its upgrade pack are already available today. Chronicles 2 and 3 editions follow. The best way to play the series before Xenoblade Genesis arrives.

19. Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass

Pokemon Pokopia is getting a paid Expansion Pass with additional content, plus a free update for all players. Expected, but appreciated. The free portion gives existing players a reason to return without spending anything.

20. Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] (October 8)

Three complete Kingdom Hearts collections arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, covering the full series through KH3. This is essentially the infrastructure announcement for Kingdom Hearts IV. If you are new to the series, this is how you catch up before the new game.

21. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launches December 3, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Scout, train, and synthesize monsters in a new entry in the long-running spinoff series. Strong announcement for fans of the Dragon Quest Monsters games.

22. Metaphor: ReFantazio

Atlus’s acclaimed RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. One of the most praised games of 2024, this has been a notable gap in the Switch 2 library and its arrival will be welcome for anyone who missed it on other platforms.

23. JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON

From the creators of Vampire Survivors and Shueisha Games, this is a Jujutsu Kaisen take on the survivor-style formula. Up to 8 players competing. The Vampire Survivors format works well with any IP that has a large roster of flashy characters, and Jujutsu Kaisen fits that description exactly.

24. Lies of P: Complete Edition

Lies of P: Complete Edition comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on August 6, 2026. One of the better Soulslike games of recent years, the Complete Edition includes all DLC. Good pickup for anyone who missed it on other platforms.

25. RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, 2026. A co-op survival game set on RuneScape’s forgotten continent of Ashenfall, playable alone or with up to 3 friends. A notable platform expansion for a series that has rarely appeared on Nintendo hardware.

26. Nintendo Switch Online DK Challenge Event

Nintendo Switch Online members on Switch 2 can take on challenges across select Donkey Kong games and classic Donkey Kong titles to earn collectible digital Challenge Cards. A limited-time bonus for NSO subscribers, tied neatly to the DK Bananza DLC announcement.

27. ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet

Build and manage your restaurant with the Straw Hat Crew. ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet is a management simulation developed by Kairosoft, featuring over 400 One Piece characters, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 23, 2026. A niche but very on-brand concept for the IP.

28. Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet

Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet launches Spring 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2. The sequel makes a major format change from free-to-play arena brawler to a full open-world action-adventure with Ninja Gum mechanics. An ambitious swing for a series that never quite broke through with the original format.

29. Rayman Legends Retold

Rayman Legends Retold brings back the classic 2013 platformer with 3D art on a 2D stage, a brand-new realm, Kung Foot mode, and an expanded soundtrack. Launching October 1, 2026. The musical levels are still some of the best level design in any platformer, and this version adds four new tracks.

30. Minecraft

Familiar crafting gameplay, enhanced for Nintendo Switch 2. Expected, competent, and will sell regardless because it is Minecraft. Not a surprise but it was always going to show up at some point.

31. Hello Kitty Party Land

Hello Kitty Party Land features over 45 games with Sanrio characters, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2026. A party game collection built around the Sanrio IP. There is clearly an audience for this.

32. Star Fox (June 25) – Treehouse Spotlight

Already announced before the Direct, Star Fox returned at the show with a reminder that it launches June 25, 2026. Nintendo Treehouse: Live gave it two separate gameplay sessions totaling nearly an hour of footage. The game rebuilds Star Fox 64 with Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and online multiplayer. It is almost here.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live added another 95 minutes of gameplay on top of the Direct itself. If anything above caught your eye, the extended footage is all on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
