Nintendo continues its streak of surprising legacy updates as Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 both receive the Version 1.3.0 update today. This unexpected patch is part of a broader push to optimize the Super Mario 3D All-Stars library for the modern era.
While the games remain masterpieces on the original Switch, the 1.3.0 update unlocks a new ‘Super-Mode’ for Nintendo Switch 2 users. This mode provides a nearly locked 4K resolution at 60fps, with significantly improved anti-aliasing that eliminates the shimmering on the edges of planetoids. The cosmic environments of the Comet Observatory have never looked more beautiful or more detailed.
The update also introduces official support for Joy-Con 2 Pointer Controls.
