Nintendo Music Expands to Web Browsers, Tablets, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay

Nintendo Music is getting significantly bigger. A new trailer released this week confirms that the streaming service, which launched exclusively as a smartphone app, is now rolling out across a much wider range of platforms, bringing Nintendo’s catalog of game soundtracks to more screens and more situations than ever before.

This is a genuinely useful feature. Game soundtracks make for excellent driving music, and being able to call them up through CarPlay or Android Auto without reaching for your phone is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.

Library Continues to Grow

Nintendo also confirmed that the music library will keep expanding over time. The service already covers a substantial range of titles spanning decades of Nintendo history, from classic NES and SNES soundtracks through to modern Switch releases, and Nintendo stated that new tracks from both legacy games and upcoming releases will continue to be added.

No Extra Cost for Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers

Nintendo Music remains free as part of an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. No separate subscription is required. If you already pay for NSO, all of this comes included, including the expanded platform access across browsers, tablets, and vehicle systems.

Not on Switch 2 Itself

Notably absent from these updates is any mention of Nintendo Music running natively on the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself. The service remains tied to external devices — phones, tablets, computers, and cars — rather than being built into the console. Whether Nintendo plans to bring it to Switch 2 as a dedicated app was not addressed in the trailer.

The web version is live now at music.nintendo.com. App updates for tablet, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are rolling out alongside the announcement.
