Paper Mario is the latest Nintendo 64 classic to get the static recompilation treatment. Paper Mario: ReCut version 0.1.1 has been released by SmokeyMcGames, also known as SMCGames, giving Windows players an early way to run the original RPG outside a standard N64 emulator.
The distinction is important here: this is not an official Nintendo release, and it should not be confused with a normal commercial PC port. ReCut is a Windows-focused static recompilation project. It relies on the modern N64 recompilation scene, uses RT64 for rendering, and requires users to supply their own legally dumped Paper Mario (U) ROM before the game can be set up locally.
