Wii Fit Plus is the definitive version of Nintendo’s fitness phenomenon. It keeps all the yoga and strength exercises of the original but adds a crucial ‘Training Plus’ section with 15 new balance games and significantly improved quality-of-life features.
Making Fitness Fun
The new games are excellent. The Obstacle Course is a platformer played with your feet, and the Segway Circuit feels responsive and fun. These additions bridge the gap between ‘workout’ and ‘game’ far better than the original title did.
The ability to create custom routines fixes the biggest pacing issue of the original, allowing for a continuous workout without menu surfing. The calorie tracking is also more robust.
Final Thoughts
If you own a Balance Board, there is no reason to play the original Wii Fit over this. It is a smarter, more feature-rich package that actually succeeds in making light exercise enjoyable.
- 15 new balance games
- Custom workout routines
- Improved calorie tracking
- Fun Obstacle Course and Segway games
- All original Wii Fit content included
- Still requires Balance Board
- Not a substitute for serious exercise
- Some activities still feel shallow
